My name is Mark, I live on a 100 acre farm in Kokomo, Indiana, that has been in my family since 1847, and take a lot of pride in managing the farm and keeping everything workable.
I enjoy the woodland and spend time there almost every day, and as I see the trees reach their prime I start looking at selling a few, I have done this 4 times since I bought the place in 1986, and I have had some good experiences and some bad.
This time after meeting with 3 other timber buyers I decided I wanted to work with Steve Yoder of Fork Lumber and it has been the best experience I have ever had selling timber, Steve went thru the woods with me and help me pick out the trees that needed harvested, and we did not mark those that would only get better if we let them grow a few more years since I was not interested in stripping out the woods.
Steve let me know when the tree cutters were going to be there and gave me options on payment, and when the tree cutters got there, the ground was frozen which kept the damage to the woods to a min. I showed them the trees to cut and ask that my trails be kept open.
They also waited until the ground got firm to load the logs on the trucks so they would do very little damage to the farm ground and we were able to do the farm planting without any delays.
Steve was always easy to contact when I had questions, either by phone or e-mail, I would recommend him to any of my friends and neighbors.
